A Big Success!

A big thanks to the committee for getting this trip off the ground and sending a team to the Milano 7′s.
A special mention to Stefan D, Pavel and Ivo for doing a lot of work behind the scenes

Some Facts:
Played 8-Won 2 by default ( they were scared), Drew-1, Lost-5
Played in the shield division after pool play
We did play the Cup and Plate winners in our pool games
Some slept in tents and some in hotels
The hotel was a 30 minute walk away
A beer was 3.50 euros
Milan is a beautiful city so are the women and they dress real nice
We entered one team of 15 players
Injuries-Andy, Peter O, Ivo-knees, Lubo K-hamstring, Big Lincoln-badly grazed knees, Little Lincoln-badly grazed nose, Jumbita-blisters on feet, Stefan D-heat exhaustion, Stefan K-ankle
Andy and Peter went to the hospital in an ambulance and waited for 6 hours
Did Murray score a try 40 metres out-Lincoln definitely score over 40 metres out
We did have 3 women travel with the team
We did have a women play for us in the last game
Stefan H and Ani slipped away early Sunday morning for romantic Venice
We did party 3 nights in a row
Olivier organised oranges
Pavel played even with sore ribs.
We did have a court session
There was a river next to the grounds and players swam in the river
The grounds were hard, dry, dusty and the weather was so hot-hence heat exhaustion
We ate pizza and sanwiches at the grounds
There were so many people Saturday night-you had to cue for 45 minutes to get a beer

Well this is just a few things that happened and as I said it was a good tournament and fun was had by all.
Hopefully this is the start on travelling to tournaments. Maybe to London Irish next????
You definitely need to take a big squad to tournaments

85-10
Merlins was a very well drilled, fit, fast and very organised team. The Misfits came out to play in the 1st half and found themselves seeing the backs of the Merlins crossing the try line at a regular pace. In fact the Merlins were up 57 -0 at half time.
It was time to work out what was going wrong with the Misfits. We were far too soft in the 1st half and allowed the Merlins to dominate in all phases and it was very difficult for the Misfits to get their hands on the ball and retain the little ball they did manage to get.
2nd half the Misfits had to stand up and show a bit more heart and balls on the field. We were too soft in the 1st half and were getting pushed all over the field especially at ruck time. The boys did step up and got more physical around the ruck and maul area and started retaining and actually winning some ball. The other thing is the missed tackle and when we missed a tackle with a team this fast and fit we paid dearly. Final score 85-10 (2nd half-28-10-respectable)
But once again-we were great hosts on and off the field, Thanks to Lubo we played on a very nice pitch-very wide and we actually had spectators cheering us on. It always amazes the opposition when they get to play and have Mt Vitosha in thier sites.

Once again-thanks to the committee for organising the pitch, beers, kit, water, after match function, merchandise and referees. In fact we had 3 available referees-cheers Myles, Rueben and Vesso. But a big thanks to the Misfits and Mercury players-great to have a squad of 22 and to Krassie our import for the day.

It would be good to see everyone there nice and early to help set up things at the ground. You do not have to be on the committee to help out.
Give Andy a hand with the merchandise this is a big part of the finances for the club-the more we sell the more we can do for the club.
