A very good weekend of rugby for the Misfits. Thanks to all the boys who helped prepare for the games on Saturday. It was a great team effort on and off the field. The team was buzzing and you could feel this after the game and then again at Murphys. It must have been a good night or morning (I heard some people arrived home at 6am). Thanks to Myles for refereeing and Vesso(one arm setting up field). Cheers to Branko for putting on some beers and food for the boys-JJ Murphys is a true sponsor of the Misfits!

Good sale of t- shirts on Saturday-once again good job Andy and thanks to the guys who helped pitch in and help sell some merchandise.
Games this Saturday against the Welsh and I think the Misfits are excited about this game and eager to get out there and show their stuff. Great to have the Mercury boys and NSA U-20 along and hope we see them on Saturday. There will be a 10 leva field leva to help with match day costs-beer, water, Doctor, field etc.

Have a look at the new trophy cabinet in Murphys-it is in the non smoking section. Looks good-Cheers Stefan D for getting this project together and completed.

Milan is around the corner-not long until June 4 and the Misfits go on tour. See Pavel for information and updates.

Много добър ръгби уикенд за Мисфитс. Благодарности на всички момчета, които помогнаха с подготовката за мачовете в събота. Чудесни отборни усилия на и извън терена. Всичко в отбора жужи и това можеше да се усети и след мача, и в Мърфис вечерта. Беше една добра вечер или сутрин (дочух, че някои са се прибрали вкъщи в 6 сутринта). Благодарности на Майлс за съдийството и на Весо (начерта терена дори и с една контузена ръка). Големи благодарности и на Бранко за предоставените бири и хапване за момчетата – Джей Джей Мърфис е един истински спонсор на Мисфитс!

Добра продажба на тениски в събота – отново добра работа, Анди, и благодаря на всички момчета, които помогнаха с продажбата на мърчандайза.
Ще имаме мач срещу отбор от Уелс и мисля, че Мисфитс са развълнувани да излезат и да покажат какво могат. Супер е, че Меркурий и юношите на НСА помогат и се надявам да ги видя отново тази събота. Ще събираме по 10 лева такса за да покрием разходите за терена, бира, вода, лекар, терен и т.н.

Хвърлете по един поглед на новата витрина за купи в Мърфис - при масите за непушачи. Изглежда добре – браво на Стефан Д. за реализирането по проекта.

Misfits will be very busy this month and will be in good spirits by the time the team departs for Milano June 4.

What has been happening:
Kids Rugby : Very good turnouts the last 2 weeks. The kids are coming on and the basic skills of passing, running, dodging and general play is improving every week. Thanks to the Dads and Mums for helping out – it is good to have this help and I am sure the kids love having their Dads and Mums running around.
No Kids Rugby this week – May 8. Next Training – 10:30am, May 15 at NSA.

Sofia Sevens 2009 team

Big Kids Rugby : Great turnout on Saturday – nearly 40 players. We had to move from NSA to the Gorublyane Stadium. It was nice to play on a flat field. We even had a team of Frenchman – 7 or 8, now that is a worry for the club. Happy Birthday – John, Pavel and Stefan H – hope celebrations went well.

May 8-9 – Sofia 7′s : Vesso is putting an Over 35 and Under 35 team together. If you are around this would be a fun event to play in or just go along to support and have a few beers.

London Irish Amateur RC

Saturday May 15 : The London Irish and Ay Nik Stags teams are coming, kick off at 3pm – meet at 2pm. at Gorublyane Stadium (we played touch there last weekend, the address is Cvetna gradina street, near “The Eye” restaurant (Ресторант Окото). The London Irish will donate a set of rugby kit to the NSA Juniors. Come along or just come along to support – bring the family.

We will participate with two teams at Cernusco 7s 2010

Saturday May 22 : The Welsh are coming, kick off at 3pm – field to be finalised (“Bistritza” or “Gorublyane”).

Friday May 28 : vs Merlins Invitational XV, Friday Night Game – Field and Time to be finalised.

June 4-7 – Milano 7′s : Pay 40 leva registration to Pavel. Don’t forget about the Superheroes theme party there!

Friday June 11 : 7:30pm – Murray will shout a few farewell beers at JJ Murphys.

Great stuff guys – club is humming. We should have new trophy cabinet in Murphy’s very soon. Andy is ordering new t shirts and making some for the kids. Thanks to the committee for organising and keeping the club active. Come along and support some of the up coming events – bring the family, friends , pets.

We will run touch before the contact session on Saturday. Use the touch to warm up for the contact. Pass the word around.

Presidents Report Murphy’s Misfits January 30 2010

Welcome to all Misfit members and friends
Thanks to Diliana and Matti D caterers and our continued association for the AGM dinner Thanks to the committee for putting this event together.
As most of you know this will be my last official function as President of the Murphy’s Misfits RFC as I will pass the reins over to the New Presidents for 2010 season tonight. I know and feel the club is in strong spirits and pushing on in the right direction. I think Murphy’s Misfits is very much part of the rugby scene in Bulgaria and a real strength of the club is it winning and outstanding playing ability on the field-NOT-I meant to say its winning and outstanding play off the field and fair play on the field. A real strength of the club is the mix of Bulgarians and Expats (far too many Frenchman!) and how we gel together on and off the field. Also having the Mercury boys very much a part of the Misfits club-cheers, Sasho, Ivats and Stefan. It is always great to see new faces coming into the club and old ones departing with great memories of the club. The club has been a big part of my life and my families in Sofia and I will take away many rugby memories and rugby friends.
The committee: I would like to thank the 2009 committee for all their time and hard work for the club. We do have a core of hard workers for the club and the great news is that most of them have volunteered to continue in 2010. As you know this is the AGM and a time to elect new officers and committee members for 2010. But we have done things a bit different at Misfits over the last few years and just asked for volunteers to come onto the committee and then take on the different roles of responsibility to run the club. At our last committee meeting the following members volunteered to take on the following positions for 2010:
Co Presidents: Andy and Stefan D
Secretary: Ivo and Stefan A
Treasurer: Andy
Merchandise: Pavel and Andy
We do need more members to come onto the committee to keep the club moving forward. So sign up tonight.
The Game: We played games against Krusevacs (they retained the Balkan Shield), Sofia 7’s, 2 teams from the UK and Gabravo. We have already organized games for 2010 against teams from the UK-May 15, 23, 31, the Sofia 7’s, Krusevacs (Serbia) at home for the Balkan Shield. The committee is investigating attending a 7’s/10’s/touch tournament June 5 and 6 in Milan Italy. Our association with Mercury is still strong and we a guaranteed to have a big squad for home games. There is a solid group of players meeting every Saturday for rugby training (contact) and thanks to Vesso for his coaching of this group.
Touch Rugby: Numbers have been consistently high throughout the year ranging from 16 to 30+ players fronting up to touch. I think we all need to review the rules (and know them as well as I know them) and all learn how long 5 meters really is. Mark and Simon have volunteered to conduct a refereeing course on The Rules of Touch rugby (the real rules)
Charity Touch Tournament: Dreams and Teams-bringing disabled and abled sportsman together to participate in a variety of sports.-We raised around 2500 leva for the charity. We had 50 players-6 teams-and a very competitive competition. Highlight of the tournament-Pavel and Ani (Dreams and Teams volunteer) meeting and now will have a baby and marriage?
Social events: AGM- Bus Pub crawl, Turkey Bowl vs. US Embassy (touch and American Football). Rugby on the big screen, social gatherings after matches
Merchandise: Big thanks to Andy for ordering, creating, and carting the merchandise around all over the place. We have t-shirts, key rings and pins, mugs and straight off the production line caps. All money from sales is put back into running of the club.
Web site: A big thanks to Blago for setting up the new site and to Stefan D for continually updating the site. Please log on and check out the site and it would be great if we could have everyone put their player profile on the site.
Kid’s rugby-after the watching all the kids at the Charity touch tournament –we thought it was time to start some rugby for the kids. We started this before the winter and had a turnout of 10-12 kids each week and we will continue this in the spring.
Goals for 2010:
-Win back the Balkan Shield
-Keep developing rugby for the kids
-More BBQs at touch
-keep Olivier injury free
-Mark O to become a professional touch referee
-Find Plamen Yotov
-Murray to learn French much better than his effort with Bulgarian

За мен клубът беше страхотен не само на терена, но и винаги когато се срещах с нови хора и се наслаждавахме на тази невероятна игра каквато е ръгбито.

Доклад на президента на Мърфис Мисфитс, 30-ти януари 2010

Добре дошли на всички членове и приятели на Мърфис Мисфитс.
Благодарности на Диляна и МатиДи за сътрудничеството ни и на Управителния съвет на клуба за организирането на събитието.
Както повечето от вас знаят, това е последната ми официална изява като Президент на Ръгби Клуб Мърфис Мисфитс и ще предам правомощията на новите президенти за 2010 г. тази вечер. Знам и чувствам, че клубът се намира в стабилно положение и се движи в правилната посока. Мисля, че вече Мърфис Мисфитс играе голяма роля на ръгби сцената в България, а истински силната страна на клуба са печелившата и впечатляваща игра на терена… всъщност, исках да кажа печелившата и впечатляваща игра извън и честната игра на терена. Сериозно предимство за клуба е смесицата от българи и чужденци (но са ни малко много французите!) и как се разбираме на и извън терена. Също така момчетата от Меркурий взимат голямо участие в клуба – благодарности на Сашо, Ивац и Стефан. Винаги е страхотно да виждаш нови лица идващи в клуба и как стари си заминават с прекрасни спомени от отбора. Клубът беше голяма част от моя и от живота на семейството ми в София и ще си тръгна с много ръгби спомени и ръгби приятели.
Управителният съвет: бих искал да благодаря на Управителния съвет за 2009-та г. за отделеното време и работата им за клуба. Имаме ядро от усърдни работници за клуба и добрата новина е, че повечето от тях се съгласиха да продължат и през 2010-та. Както знаете, сега е Годишното събрание и е време да се изберат нови членове за съвета. Но тьй като през последните години нещата протичат по малко по-различен начин и просто питаме за доброволци, сега отново търсим хора, които да заемат отговорни длъжности в клуба. На последната среща на Управителния съвет следните членове пожелаха да заемат длъжностите през 2010-та г. :

Секретари : Иво и Стефан А.
Ковчежник : Анди
Мърчандайз: Павел и Анди
Необходимо е още хора да се включат в съвета, за да може клубът да върви напред. Затова се запишете още тази вечер.
Мачове: Играхме срещу Крушевац (запазиха Балканския щит), София 7’s, 2 отбора от Англия и Габрово. За 2010-та вече са организирани мачове с отбори от Англия и Уелс - на 15, 23 и 31-ви май, София 7’s, посрещане на Крушевац (Сърбия) вкъщи за Балканския щит. Управителният съвет проучва участие на турнир по 7-ци/10-ки/тъч ръгби през юни – 5 и 6 в Милано, Италия. Взаимната ни работа с Меркурий е все по-силна и вече имаме голям отбор за домакинските мачове. Има голяма група от играчи на съботните тренировки по контактно ръгби – благодарности на Весо за ръководенето на групата.
Тъч ръгби: Постоянно високо посещение през годината – между 16 и 30+ играча за игрите на тъч. Мисля, че трябва да обсъдим правилата (и да ги знаем поне толкова добре, колкото аз ги знам) и всички да се научим колко наистина са 5 метра. Марк и Саймън доброволно ще проведат курс за съдии на тема Правилата на Тъч-Ръгби (истинските правила).
Благотворителен Тъч-ръгби турнир: Dreams and Teams – дават възможност на спортисти в равностойно и неравностойно положение да взимат участие в различни спортни прояви. Събрахме около 2500 лв. за благотворителност. Имаше 50 играча – 6 отбора и беше доста оспорвана надпревара. Основно събитие на турнира - Павел и Ани (доброволец в Dreams and Teams) се срещнаха и ще имат бебе!
Социални събития: Годишната среща и вечеря, Пъб кроул-а с автобус, Турки боул-а срещу Американското посолство (тъч-ръгби и американски футбол). Ръгби мачове на голям екран, събиранията след мачовете.
Мърчандайз: Големи благодарности на Анди за поръчката, създаванвето, и мъкненето на нещата по всякакви събития. Имаме тениски, ключодържатели, значки, чаши и още топли – шапки. Всичките пари от продажбата отиват за издръжката на клуба.
Уеб сайт: Голямо браво на Благо за подкарването и на Стефан Д. за системното обновяване на сайта. Моля регистирайте се и вижте как изглежда новия сайт, ще бъде добре всеки да има профил там.
Детско ръгби: След като видяхме всичките деца на благотворителния турнир, решихме че е време да организираме ръгби и за децата. Започнахме преди зимата и имаше по около 10-12 деца всеки път и ще продължим и през пролетта.
Цели за 2010-та :
- Да си върнем Балканския щит
- Да продължим с развиването на детското ръгби
- Още барбекюта след тренировка
- Да пазим Оливие от контузии
- Марк да стане официален тъч-ръгби съдия
- Да намерим Пламен Йотов
- Мъри да научи френски малко по-добре отколкото научи български

И най-накрая - благодаря ви за участието тази вечер и е добре да видиш познати и нови лица и може би нови Мисфити. Наслаждавайте се на вечерта и помнете, че Rugby is the Source!
