It was a beautiful summer day in the mountain village of Bistritsa to play a game of rugby.

The new kit looked great on the Misfits as they had a good running game and scored a lot of tries. Stefan Doychev had a great game and scored fast in the first couple of minutes of the game and played hard the whole game to receive player of the game honors.

The Gentlemen of Albion then showed their skills and gained the lead with a couple of quick tries of their own. They were moving the ball well and had us momentarily on our heels.

With the help of all the Mercury RC players who are always a big contribution to the Misfits play and the great effort of Dani Tsvetanov who scored a try from over 40 meters out to put us back on top before halftime.

The Misfits also benefited from the playmaking and experience of former national player Lyubo Krushkin.

Thanks to Antonio and Vesso who split the Referee duties and contributed on the field as well.

Half time score was 19-12 for the Misfits and the second half opened up with more scoring from both sides. The final score was 52-33 in favor of the Misfits. “In all the games that the Misfits have played in the 8 plus years of existence this was the first team fielded with only Bulgarian players” remarked Canadian Andy Lang. “It is good to see the coming together of players from other clubs(Mercury,NSA,Varna) to form a team with the Misfits.”

The third half was enjoyed at JJ Murphy’s Pub with laughter and good memories of the game and the usual amount of Alcohol consumed. Thanks to the Gentlemen of Albion for a great game of rugby and enjoying our fair city.
